We setup this domain and server space so that we can
have our very own place to post pictures and other "stuff" without
using a bunch of random sites that could change addresses or stop
being free at any time.
8/10/08 - Milestone in the dog
days of summer
It's nothing to brag about or anything, but
this is fun. Dean started showing signs of increased balance
last week. He'd stand up for a really long time without holding
on so we knew it was just a matter of a couple weeks before he'd
become mobile. He's been doing this for a few days before we
could catch it on camera, but here he is, walking at exactly 13
months just like Ryan did. Horray!
5/26/08 - Hot Dogs, Allergies,
and Sunburn Oh My!
Wow! Summer came fast this year. The best part
of the warmer weather is that more of the family can get
together without cramming everyone inside the house. BBQs are
funny though. Is it just me or does everyone attempt to eat one
of everything no matter how full we feel? I think I might limit
the menu to grilled lettuce next time. It's not a vegan-activist
thing as much as a "hey I can't see my feet anymore" thing.
Sue's also been hard at work uploading new pics to the
photo pages so check em out. You'll find a bunch of pics of
Ryan enjoying the rides at Keansburg (aka the permanent white
trash carnival). This place is similar to Bowecraft amusement
park but it's right on the Raritan Bay near sandy hook.
12/16/07 - It's a FESTIVUS
for the rest of us!
Let's face it, if December gets any more commercialized, Santa
himself will end up on Ebay. Don't try driving within a 100 mile
radius of any mall, which means you can't drive in New Jersey at all.
We still figure out a way to smile for pictures like the one below.
You have no idea how long it takes to get a shot like this :-)
11/3/07 - Party time.
Excellent! Sometimes weddings blow. This one didn't.
My cousin Nichole's wedding was fun. My beer brewing peers had fun
with this pic. Coors light? Hey, you have to hydrate after tequila
shots! Fiesta!!
9/13/07 - I finally
finished building the kid's play set.
We realized how much Ryan loved going to the playground so we
wanted to give her something similar in our fenced-in yard. After
shopping around for redwood and cedar kits all over the place, we
decided we didn't want to spend $3000.
This was designed in Google
Sketchup (a free 3d drawing program) and built completely from
pressure treated lumber from both Lowes and HD. We found the slide on
the side of the road (dumpster diving rocks!!). The sandbox base is 6
x 6 feet and holds just under a TON of play sand. The swing seats are
wood and uses all stainless steel hardware including the chain. I
purchased the tarps and plastic accessories from
backyardcity.com and I
highly recommend them if you take on a similar project. The total cost
of the project was $850 including the sand, lumber, accessories and
mulch (add $100 if you buy the slide). No. <--in case you were asking
me to build one in your yard.
We were using
Pbase.com for all our
digital pictures (and it was great for that purpose) but we found the
price per megabyte was a little high and it didn't support posting
other kinds of files. When we didn't renew our subscriptions, we
couldn't upload anymore so Susan signed up at
flickr.com
temporarily until we got this site going. Our gallery's at those sites
are still packed with pictures so don't hesitate to explore there, but
we will eventually host everything here and close those accounts.
About Us
We fully realize that having a "couples" website is
about as cheesy as it gets (short of dressing up in matching argyle
sweaters or jogging outfits), but we tend not to give a crap. Once
you're married, you pretty much do things to make everyone sick to
their stomachs on a daily basis anyway. Did we really create a web
domain by sticking our names together? Yes we did. Now that we have
that settled, here's the story of how we met (told in 3rd person for
extra cheddar).
Bobby was the drummer for a cover band that played
all the clubs that Susan and her friends liked to dance at. You would
assume that over the course of a summer, their paths would cross and
the rest would be history, but you'd be wrong. The cover band industry
is quite competitive and requires that the band find innovative ways
to draw people in to see them play. Bobby had the bright idea to do
creative searching on Yahoo member profiles to see if he could
advertise the band's shows to people who are likely to take the bait
(damn, this sounds like an episode of Nightline). Susan's profile was
filled with keywords like "dancing", "clubs", and the names of other
local bands. A couple emails and online chats later they became
friends. Both in long-term relationships at the time, a romance was
the last thing on their minds. A few months later, they both found
themselves single and decided to finally meet. The rest is history.
